Lab Meetings

Lab meetings (~1.5 hrs) are held in the CHIL lab every other week alternately with individual meetings at a mutually convenient time assigned at the beginning of the semester. This is an opportunity for lab members to discuss their ongoing work and upcoming events with Mike and each other. Any equipment or general lab problems should be brought up at this time. There will be snacks provided by an assigned member (see the CHIL site for snack duty), for which they will be reimbursed.

Individual Meetings

Individual meetings (~45 min) are held once a week on non-lab meeting weeks. Times convenient for each lab member are set at the beginning of the semester at the first lab meeting. These meetings are for members to discuss and report their work and any other personal issues with Mike. Don’t be late.

HCI Meetings

Begun in the spring of 2002, these meetings have developed into informal mini-seminar sessions during which relevant HCI topics are shared and discussed by the HCI faculty, students, and anyone else interested. Originally, these were begun as a means of promoting the sharing of research and ideas among the HCI contingent of the Rice Psychology department.
Meeting times are set at the beginning of the semester and are usually every other week (~1 hr). Some past activities have included presentations by outside HCI people, reading and discussing HCI papers, visits by people from the HCI industry, and practice presentations by faculty and students.
