The printer is an HP LaserJet 4050N known as "CHIL Printer". It is a grayscale laser printer.
Configuring CHIL Printer
You shouldn't have to do this often, but in case, say, the printer mysteriously stops working (e.g., "The printer is not responding"), what might fix it is removing the printer from the machine you are at and set it up again. Go to System Preferences, click the "Print & Fax" icon. With the "printing" tab selected, click "Set Up Printers...". OS X will then launch the Printer Setup Utility. If CHIL Printer is listed, but you still can't print, then delete it. Click "Add" (icon of a picture of a printer with a plus sign on it).
Click on the “IP Printer” tab at the top of the “printer browser” dialog. From the “protocol” pull-down menu at the top, select “Line Printer Daemon-LPD.” In the printer address field, type "chil-printer.rice.edu". In the "Queue” field, type "CHIL Printer". In the “Name” field, type CHIL Printer. You can type "SH 213" into the "Location" field, if you really want to. It should auto-detect the printer model as "HP LaserJet 4050 Series". Click "Add". In the list of printers, "CHIL Printer" should now appear in the list, most likely at the top and in bold print. The bold print means that it is selected as the computer's default printer. You should now be ready to print.
